That does not mean duration alone turns any DoT setup into a strong Shattered Vow build. You still need enough ongoing damage for the execution condition to become relevant. Duration supports that plan; it does not replace the damage source.

The Defensive Value Is Not Just a Bonus

Season 14 Shattered Vow carries 2,814 DPS, 0.90 attacks per second, 5,200 Maximum Life, and 20% Attack Speed while Berserking. The Life affix deserves as much attention as the offensive lines, especially for characters that must remain close to enemies.

Rend is the obvious fit because it naturally supports the weapon's preferred pace: apply pressure, maintain it, and allow the execution effect to close the fight.

Skip the weapon if your build is built around deleting targets instantly with isolated hits. In that situation, the enemy may be gone before duration and execution offer much practical value. Judging Shattered Vow only by raw weapon damage misses its purpose, but forcing it into the wrong setup is equally unhelpful.

If you are deciding where to spend time and Diablo 4 materials, start by checking whether your build can maintain strong DoT pressure on elites. Shattered Vow is most valuable when that answer is clearly yes, and when endgame targets live long enough for its execution mechanic to earn the weapon slot.
