By the time you're looping endgame content in Diablo 4, the difference between a smooth farm and a slow one usually comes down to a single material. In Season 14, that job falls to Superior Lair Key, and it matters more than most players expect because it gates the reward chest, not the fight itself. If you're also sorting through Diablo IV Items while you build out your stash, this is one of those resources you'll want to treat like fuel, not junk.
How Superior Lair Keys fit into the Season 14 loop
The big change this season is pretty simple: you can start the Lair Boss fight without spending a key, but you still need Superior Lair Key to open the final reward chest. That makes the key less about entry and more about efficiency. It also means bad routing hurts a lot more, since wasting time on low-value events gives you fewer chest opens per hour. From what I've seen, players who focus on speed and repeatability get more out of this system than players who try to brute-force every pack on the screen.

The basic flow is straightforward: finish the Rupture, kill the spawned Realmwalker, enter the chamber, then clear the objective without letting the Gravehound orbs snowball the boss. That last part can drag if the group is sloppy, so it pays to stay on task instead of chasing every trash mob.
What usually slows players down
Most bad runs I've seen come from over-clearing. Players spend too long cleaning the outer edges, or they stop to fight packs that don't help the objective at all. Compact dungeons and short travel paths matter more than monster density on paper. If you only have limited time to play, chaining strong Ruptures is usually better than fishing for perfect drops in random zones.
Secondary options when the map is dry
Nightmare Dungeons with the Rupture affix give you another route into the same reward loop, and they're useful when the open-world rotation is dead. The trick is to avoid slow layouts. Long backtracking maps kill the whole point, and at that stage you're better off saving the sigil for later. If your build is still shaky, don't force boss farming too early; a cleaner clear speed route in the overworld is usually a better use of time than failing hard content for no reward.
